What: 2 hour shoot, very light with medium personal direction
Where: The campus of the University of British Columbia, various locations
Who: Frog and Toad: Wolf Farm Blog!
Why: Accommodate their need for 'bloggy' photos
We went around the campus taking a bunch of photos in various interesting locations. Both Frog and Toad were really good about taking direction although they really didn't need much to make the photos interesting. The campus is full of really interesting places that I really want to get back to.
What did I learn?
I go overboard with my post and saturate my colors too much
The most interesting light should be on the focal point of the subject, read: the face
Don't be afraid to modify the environment for my purposes
Alternate dark and light layers within a scene, three to four layers are apparently standard
I need to start telling stories with my images and move away from standard, boring 'pretty' shots
